With its views of the Hudson River and New York Harbor, the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and the New Jersey shoreline, the Esplanade is a pedestrian paradise that runs the entire length of Battery Park City. Gardens line the entire route, along with public art installations at the intersections of Albany, Rector, and West Thames streets. The upper walkway is only for pedestrians, while bikes, skateboards, and rollerblades must stay on the lower walkway.
