No, though the cultures are similar in structure, KeVita™ culture is water-based (rather than milk-based). Our live KeVita™ culture comes from kefir-derived cultures, a process that we have been evolving for over a period of many years. KeVita™ is made with fresh, rather than powdered, kefir culture.
KeVita™ is made with our proprietary, certified organic, kefir-derived culture. Our KeVita™ culture is a nutrient-rich blend of probiotics and prebiotics, organic acids, polysaccharides, and trace elements. This culture is different (and is created by a different methodology) than the culture used in kombucha. Traditionally kombucha is made using a black tea base while KeVita™ uses either water, tea or coconut water as the base. Both KeVita™ and kombucha are made with SCOBY's: Symbiotic Cultures of Bacteria and Yeast, but the SCOBY's differ vastly. The base of KeVita™ culture is pure water while the kombucha culture is grown in a sweetened tea. KeVita™ is richer in probiotics than kombucha.

Frankly, we don’t know. There is no science backing up the many health claims made about kombucha, so much of what we have read or heard is hearsay or folklore. We know that KeVita™ has active probiotic cultures that are known to enhance beneficial digestive flora as well as antioxidant Vitamin C. Fans think it’s great!

Two flavors, Green Tea and Living Greens™ each contain 50 grams of caffeine per 8oz serving. (Coffee contains 100 mg of caffeine per 8oz serving.) The notable lift from drinking Living Greens™ comes from our green phytoalgae superfood blend and green tea. Lemon Ginger™ and all three of our new KeVita™ Coconut flavors are caffeine-free.

Yes, it is a vegan product, which means it is free from all dairy, animal products and animal testing.

Yes, KeVita™ is lightly infused with co2, (carbon dioxide). Carbonating involves pressing carbon dioxide into liquid under pressure. When the pressure is reduced, the carbon dioxide is released as small bubbles, which cause the solution to "fizz." We take the greatest care to gently carbonate KeVita™ with less than ¼ of the carbonation of soda.
Our first three flavors are certified organic and the coconut flavors are certified as “made with organic ingredients” which means they are made with at least 70% organic ingredients.
Chlorella is a green single-celled algae cultivated in fresh water ponds. It has the highest chlorophyll concentration of any plant in the world and has existed on the planet for billions of years. (Fossils of Chlorella have been found dating back 3 billion years!) Chlorella is one of the best super foods in existence. It is often called the "perfect food.” It is a wonderful aid for digestion.
Aphanizomenon flos-aquae (AFA) is a fresh water, edible species of blue-green algae which many call the most nutritious food on the planet. It is the most ancient food on earth!
BrainON® is an extract which offers naturally occurring phenylethylamine (PEA) as found in AFA blue-green algae. In chocolate, PEA is known as the "love molecule" and BrainON® contains more bio-available PEA than chocolate.

We have three coconut flavors Original Coconut, Mango Coconut and Strawberry Acai Coconut. They contain 60-70% coconut water depending on the flavor.
We know at the time of bottling what amount of probiotics goes into each bottle because we add an exact quantity.

We use triple micro filtered purified water.
Gently shake Living Greens™ until the powdered Phytoalgaes™ are well blended as well as the Coconut KeVita™ flavors. It’s best not to shake Lemon Ginger or Green Tea. It is normal for some sediment to remain on the bottom of all the flavors.
We cannot predict, which is why we clearly label all KeVita™ drinks to be kept refrigerated (our distributors use refrigerated trucks.) If left out for a day or two it seems to be fine. We do know that KeVita's™ delicate flavors taste best when kept refrigerated at all times. Also, the live probiotic content is maintained by continual refrigeration.
There are so many variables on how people handle their opened bottles that we find it hard to say for sure. If you close the lid tightly after opening, keep it cold and pour out a portion (rather than sip directly from the bottle) and drink within a few days of opening it should retain it's value. It is hard for us to say exactly how long it will take for the probiotics to no longer be viable as people treat open bottles differently.
Yes, KeVita™ can be enjoyed with meals. All KeVita™ flavors are light and easy to drink (unlike other fermented beverages which may not go well with food due to their strong flavors.) Though drinking while eating can reduce digestive capacity (since liquids require different digestive enzymes than solid foods) many enjoy people find drinking KeVita™ with meals supports their digestion.
That’s your choice. We don’t offer a recommended serving of KeVita™ since it’s not a nutritional supplement.
